To create space on the Amsterdam Vrije Universiteit (Free University) campus, it was decided to house the supporting services and the board of directors for a period (ten years) in Uilenstede, two kilometers off campus. The housing project was devised to change from a traditional manner of work to a new manner of work. In this project "activity-related work" is introduced. We were asked to come up with a design, which supports this new work and removes fear of change. The result is an entirely open work area apart from a number of rooms for the board of directors. Restaurant and pantry are multi-functional. For the VU a special room dividing, acoustic box system was developed. The use of graphics (by ZiLtd.) is an important means to express the closeness with the target group and to make it visible to employees.
