Make a concept and design for the ‘central work areas’, classroom furniture, vision and openness of classrooms within the new, so-called ‘study house design’ of the Teylingen College in Noordwijkerhout.
Hollandse Nieuwe was asked to develop a concept which relates well to the building designed by EGM architects. The open ‘central work areas’ are the focus of a professional area where the partly open and closed teaching areas are grouped around. In order to simplify navigation, each floor has been given a different pattern and colour. This colour scheme is abstract with references to the vicinity of Noordwijkerhout and to the professional area that is found on the floor. There are different work zones on each floor. From instruction (closed) to project education (open). The variety of offered working typologies means that you sit where you can best perform your activity.
The design solutions contributed to the successful implementation of what is known as ‘new learning’, a teaching form whereby students, in addition to following classical lessons, work largely independently. The Teylingen College was completed in 2005.
