VOPAK Chemieweg
Hollandse Nieuwe has carried out a complete internal and external transformation of VOPAK’s office building, situated in the Rotterdam harbor. The confined, out-dated building is now an inspirational, open working environment with very satisfied users.
The gravel concrete facades at the end have been removed and replaced by high quality insulation curtain wall facades. A new internal staircase has been placed on all floor and, via the skylight, functions as a light well maximizing the use of transparent stairs and balustrades. The closed character of the building has been transformed into an open and transparent building.

The new layout has improved internal communication and knowledge sharing. A great deal of attention has been given to the excellent acoustic conditions and the integrated technique dovetails nicely with the theme of the industrial environment of the Botlek ports.
At VOPAK’s request Hollandse Nieuwe has been able, within a very short time frame, to transform the traditional office cubicles into an inspiring open work environment.
